It's amazing to be able to witness small miracles. Here's what happened...
Hannah was at piano lessons, taught by her favorite teacher~Ms. Ali, and she needed a bathroom break. Ali & I were just talking in the hallway while Hannah ran to the bathroom. After some time we hear Hannah saying, [in a sweet voice], "ow. ow". That was it. No screaming or panicking sounds. Nothing. Then we hear, "MY FINGER!" [in a more panic-sounding voice].
At that point Ali and I RUN to help her. We know that the girl's bathroom door is very heavy. We knew that she must have had her finger caught in the door. Immediately, my thoughts go to my grade school days. My friend had caught her finger in the heavy bathroom door when I was in grade school, and she actually LOST her finger. It was CUT OFF. So, of course, I am thinking the worst at this point.
Ali and I turn the corner to find that another mother was able to get to her first & free her from the door. Hannah's crying holding her finger and I can only imagine what I am about to see. As she shows me her hand, it is completely in tact. The door caught her pinky finger between her joints. The area was completely flat & bright red. I knew for sure it was at least broken.
After Hannah calmed down a little bit, I asked her if she could move her finger...and she did! I asked her, jokingly, if she was ready to go back to piano. She said, "Yes, but I can't play with this finger." How cute!! I was only kidding. She said that if she missed some of her lesson, then she would miss learning some piano. What a trooper!
Hannah went back to playing paino and when her lesson was over, ten minutes later, her finger was back to it's regular shape and not even red! It looked like nothing had even happened, but her finger was still a little sore.
That was the small miracle I witnessed on Tuesday night. It could have turned out MUCH worse and I thought for sure that we were making a trip to the hospital that night. God works in big ways and in small ways. I am so thankful He saved my little girl's finger!!
